AA Rosette award

New Fox and Hounds team gains a rosette for food

Just weeks after taking up the reins at popular village pub, the Fox and Hounds, Llancarfan, husband and wife team,  Jim and Rhiannon Dobson, have secured an AA four-star rating for the pub and a rosette for the food.

Jim, head chef, and Rhiannon, front of house manager, are delighted with this accolade.  Rhiannon says,

“It’s fantastic news, and a great endorsement of everything we are trying to achieve, creating a warm, welcoming village pub, with an excellent and varied menu to suit all tastes and pockets, along with comfortable rooms for those who want to extend  their stay.  We hope this will encourage lots more people to visit us, and sample the fantastic ‘Fox’ hospitality."

Cardiff Life Review

Thank you to our friends at Cardiff Life, and especially Zoe Austin, for writing this article.

Over in Llancarfan, there’s good craft beer, gorgeous, modestly-priced food (pheasant and bacon pie? Mmm...) and spectacular puds to die for – what’s not to like?

We visited for Sunday lunch. This must be one of the vale of Glams best kept secrets. Food was superb. Setting really top class. The staff are really friendly and relaxed. Nothing too much trouble. Really enjoyed. Phil

The bar area was lovely with a comfortable log burning snug area. The restaurant food was outstanding: every course was excellent, and though I am not a dessert eater, the home-made ice cream was fabulous.

I cannot remember ever staying in pub accommodation which offered so much and provided a quality offering to this degree. Thoroughly recommend this establishment for accommodation and/or dining - I will definitely be returning..... and soon!

A first rate pub and restaurant. We stopped for a quick lunch. The waitress (Nicola) was great - friendly, welcoming and helpful. Well worth a visit.

Can’t wait to go again!  Called in for dinner late on a Saturday. When our food was nearly ready we were moved to a table in a cosy side room.
